At 3 o’clock on the afternoon of May 23rd, the first International Cultural Festival of Anhui Medical University hosted by the School of International Education was officially launched. A total of nearly 300 international students of our university from 23 countries and regions fully demonstrated various cultural elements including the cuisine, costume and music of different countries and regions. President Cao Yunxia sent a special congratulatory letter to congratulate on the official opening of the cultural festival, in which she wrote, “I would like to extend my sincere wishes that our teachers and students could enjoy this cultural feast and all the young people who are now studying and living at AMU could enjoy a happy life and achieve every success in study. ”

During the International Cultural Festival, students with different skin colors and of different nationalities staged singing and dancing performances, which ignited the passion of the audience. The fantastic shows were staged one after another, including Bollywood dance, traditional Arab dance, South African folk songs and traditional costume shows, which led the performance to exciting climaxes. Usain Bolt, world-renowned Jamaican athlete and Olympic champion, sent a video to the Jamaican students in our school, extending good wills and wishing the first International Cultural Festival of AMU a great success. The First Clinical Medical School and the Public Health School presented dragon dance and Taiji performance. A traditional Chinese drama was staged by pupils from the Hefei Tunxi Road Primary School. Below the stage, there was an exhibition area carefully designed by international students from different countries and regions, through which the students presented their “masterpieces”. The exhibition stall of Arabian countries was featured with introductions of the geographical distribution and cultural characteristics of 22 Arabian countries and regions. One of the international students, Eman, offered to make hand paintings for the audience. In the Indian exhibition area, the main demonstration items were Indian cuisines, including curry rice, prata and Teh Tarik (pulled tea). In addition, there was also a demonstration of Indian costumes, which allowed the audience to try on and take photos. The exhibition stalls of different countries and regions attracted many teachers and students. Looked from afar, it was just like a small-scale World Expo.
